Dating on and off for over 11 years, John 'Nitro/Morrison' Hennigan and Melina's relationship actually did survive the wrestling business for a while, particularly during a murky spell for the couple whilst they shared a SmackDown locker room with Dave Batista.

Allegedly an open secret that initially led to a split before an eventual reconciliation, 'The Animal' and Melina's tryst was even woven into a rather problematic storyline in which she attempted to manipulate the then-World Champion with sex ahead of match with her tag team champions.

Few sadly had sympathy for either party at the time, with Melina considered something of a heat magnet whilst Hennigan took residual flack from a toxic and dangerously traditionalist blue brand crew. That they managed to escape with their careers in tact at least positioned them ahead of a several suffering strugglers at the time.

Ultimately, both carved out serviceable singles runs after MNM split and their own partnership gave way to Morrison's ECW singles run and her move to a barren women's/divas division on Monday Night Raw. Bizarrely, Hennigan got engaged to Kira 'Taya Valkyrie' Forster less than two years after the pair's final farewell.
