10 Fantasy Wrestling Matches That Never Happened

2. Shawn Michaels vs. The Rock - 60 Minute Iron Man Match

Shawn Michaels The Rock Another match that never happened despite both workers working for the same promotion at the same time, The Rock and Shawn Michaels are two of the most charismatic stars in the history of professional wrestling. Not only can both guys talk circles around anyone else in the business, very few were able to out-perform them in big match situations. Rumors persist that Vince McMahon wanted this match to happen but The Rock shut it down due to his dislike of Shawn Michaels and his backstage attitude. Shawn Michaels could be the greatest all-around performer to ever step inside the ring. Being able to adapt to the new WWF Attitude, Shawn Michaels went from a tag team performer to the main event star of the World Wrestling Federation. After a back injury seemed to end his career, Michaels found Jesus and seemingly was granted a second chance in wrestling, returning to WWE and building a second career for himself, cementing himself as a legend of the ring. Michaels has left a countless number of classic matches in his wake and is one of the few workers who could go 60 minutes and still be effective. The Rock was such a big star that professional wrestling was too small to hold him. Now the highest paid actor in Hollywood, The Rock was destined to be a superstar from the moment he set foot in the ring. No one knew how big, of course, but a well-timed heel turn changed The Rock from a hated babyface into one of the most successful heels of all-time. In addition to growing into one of the best workers in the business, The Rock was (and probably still is) the best promo man in the business. Both of these men have proven that they can go 60 minutes. Shawn Michaels had a classic matchup with Bret Hart in an Iron Man match at Wrestlemania XII and The Rock went an hour with Triple H in 2000 (ironically with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee). The promos leading up to the match would be worth the price of admission alone and the match would simply be spectacular. Since this match seems unlikely to occur now, we can only imagine what it would be like.
