Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa made their professional wrestling debuts together in 2008.

At a Southern Championship Wrestling show in Altamonte Springs, Florida, Tama and Loa teamed as the Sons Of Tonga against The Asian Superstar Organization: Jason Hexx and Ryze. The brothers trained under the guidance of their father, Haku, then Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley at the Team 3D Academy of Professional Wrestling and Sports Entertainment training school.

The two eventually went their separate ways, with Tama Tonga heading to New Japan Pro Wrestling (more on that journey later), and Tonga Loa trying to break into WWE (and more on that too). By 2016 they were back together in NJPW as Guerrillas of Destiny (G.O.D.) and members of the Bullet Club, where they'd become eight-time IWGP Tag Team Championship.

It was a long time coming but, as part of such a wrestling dynasty, it was destiny that The Tongans would make their way to WWE eventually.
