10 Fascinating WWE Backstage Facts About Triple H

7. He Wanted Edge Fired

Edge retired with an astonishing 31 title reigns to his name in 2011 (including 11 as WWE/World Heavyweight Champion), marking him as one of the modern era's most decorated Superstars, but this Hall of Fame level run may never have happened if Triple H got his way six years prior.

While most of the wrestling world agreed, rightly, that Edge was in the wrong throughout the Lita & Matt Hardy situation (having an affair with your injured friend's girlfriend isn't a good look, it turns out), WWE ultimately stood by 'The Rated R Superstar.' They considered him a more marketable commodity than Hardy, who was ultimately cut loose. Edge and Lita, meanwhile, immediately became two of the sport's biggest heels.

Despite all this, Triple H was firmly on Team Hardy, and like many other WWE employees, he wanted Edge fired for his transgressions. He took this to management, but while they likely agreed that Hardy was morally right, 'The Game' was overruled.

Matt was eventually brought back for a memorable, heated feud, knowing that Triple H had fought the good fight all along.
