The Triple H/Kurt Angle/Stephanie McMahon love triangle story that took place in the summer of 2000 was originally supposed to end with 'The Billion Dollar Princess' leaving her husband for the Olympian, but it never came to pass.

The story goes that Angle and Steph would have stayed heel, ending up as the company's new power couple (at least temporarily), with 'The Game' turning face to war with the duo. Though already one of the company's biggest stars, this would've taken 'The Olympic Hero' to the next level. Unfortunately for him, though, the plans were scrapped, and the storyline concluded with three consecutive pay-per-view losses for Kurt. Why? Because Triple H said so.

Apparently, 'The Game' flexed his considerable political might, and stepped in to nix the idea as he thought it was "unrealistic" that Stephanie would ever leave him for a man like Angle. He argued that the audience wouldn't be able to buy into it, and the decision makers seemingly agreed. Instead of creating an alternative solution that worked for Angle, WWE had Triple H go over in dominant fashion, leaving Kurt looking like a goof.
