10 Fascinating Backstage WWE Facts About John Cena

6. Cena Critiqued 205 Live’s Commentary

This sounds like an implausible scenario.

John Cena was mucking around backstage in June 2017 when newbie announcer Vic Joseph approached him to say hello. Cena shook his hand, and asked if Vic was new. Then, Joseph revealed he was a commentator for 205 Live and John politely said he'd check out the show.

Vic didn't believe he would, but Cena did. He literally watched the lowly Cruiserweight broadcast, then offered feedback on Joseph's commentary work afterwards. That blew Vic's mind, because he didn't think for one second that a mega-star like Cena would watch him call matches like Akira Tozawa vs. TJ Perkins.

Joseph told this story on WWE's 'After The Bell' podcast, and is likely still shook by the moment today. 205 Live was peripheral WWE programming at most, but John f'n Cena decided to plonk his arse down and watch it so he could honour his words to a new announcer.

That's pretty cool.
