NXT had arguably its two greatest matches of all time in 2019, and both of them were between the same two people.

Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole (baybay)'s saga for the NXT Championship was nothing short of fantastic, with the first two matches of their three-match series earning 5.5 and 5.25 stars, respectively. These impeccable performances set two records for WWE. Firstly, they are the first two WWE-produced matches to ever receive a rating higher than 5-stars. They may not be the only two, as WALTER and Tyler Bate wrestled an awe-inspiring 5.25-star match at NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff this past August, but they are the first, and nobody can ever take that away from them.

Secondly, they are the only two WWE talents to ever wrestle two 5-star matches against one another, let alone in the same year. Gargano, himself, also set an individual record for the most 5-star matches in WWE history, with four such matches to his name thus far. While Cole also has four 5-star matches under his belt, one of them was not under the WWE banner, so he unfortunately lands himself in second place in this regard.

Nevertheless, fans are clamoring to see what Gargano and Cole have in store for us in 2020, whether it's against one another or not.
