Any excuse to remind people of the best dumbest fantasy booking idea to have emerged on r/SquaredCircle...

As part of the Randy Orton's early career arc, this user - and it's much funnier to imagine they weren't actually joking - suggested that Orton, in order to formally evolve from Legend Killer to Legend, would RKO himself in the middle of the ring to complete a fantastically silly Möbius strip of sorts. The idea of Orton giving himself an RKO is so great, man. There's a kernel of something vaguely symbolic to the idea, but why would a wrestling legend willingly hurt themselves?

They can't be very good at wrestling in that case!

WWE being WWE, they did actually book a wrestler to defeat themselves and capture a title in the process. At Night of Champions 2008, Ted DiBiase, Jr. promised a mystery partner with whom he would challenge for Cody Rhodes and Hardcore Holly's World Tag Team Titles.

It was revealed to be Cody himself, leading to the formation of a new second-generation tag team - and the first and thus far only instance of a wrestler defeating himself to win a title.

Given the man's fascinating, chaotic nature, it's very fitting that Cody bears this honour, no?
