Reportedly, there were a few annoyed glances backstage at WrestleMania XXVI, but they were aimed at Sheamus and not Triple H. The Irishman was one of Hunter's new training partners, and they struck up enough chemistry that 'The Game' fancied tangling with the relative rookie on WWE's grandest stage.

Here's the fun part.

This was actually Trips' first 'Mania match without a World Title on the line since X-Seven in 2001 and his underrated brawl vs. The Undertaker. That means Hunter went on a run of matches vs. Chris Jericho, Booker T, Chris Benoit and Shawn Michaels, Batista, John Cena, Cena and Randy Orton and then Orton solo that all contested a top prize (he missed 'Mania 23).

That eight-event marathon ended when Hunter worked Sheamus in Arizona. This flew under the radar a bit at the time, but it's pretty fascinating. One of WWE's bigger names dropped down the pecking order to work the fourth bout on the main show just to help one of his new pals.
