1. CM Punk Didn’t Want Roman Reigns
It’s easy to forget that The Shield unit was originally pitched as a security detail for CM Punk, and the reigning WWE Champ had a solid idea of exactly who he wanted to fill all three spots: Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Kassius Ohno/Chris Hero. Sadly for Punk, top brass didn't agree with all of those picks.
Triple H and Vince McMahon thought Ohno should be subbed out for Roman Reigns instead; Punk wasn’t too keen on that, but it would’ve been an uphill battle (just his latest behind the scenes) to convince Trips and McMahon that Kassius was the way to go. It's amazing how different things could’ve been had Chris Hero been the third man.
That wasn't to be.
Reigns became the brooding silent man of The Shield, which worked well next to Ambrose playing the crazy, Roddy Piper-style madman, and Rollins whining about everything and anything. Who knows what Kassius would've brought to the dance? Experience, maybe? McMahon and Hunter weren't willing to find out.
