Getting Daniel Bryan to main event status in WWE was quite the saga. Vince McMahon, Stephanie and Triple H remained unconvinced by the technical wizard, but fans were fully on-board and select top liners loved the thought of working with D-Bry. John Cena was one of them, and he saved the day heading into summer.

It’s unclear exactly who Cena would’ve worked with instead, but he reportedly went to Vince and said him vs. Bryan was the biggest match WWE currently had left to offer. John's original pitch was to work Daniel at Money In The Bank, but McMahon bumped it up to SummerSlam because of how passionate Cena was.

Great call from ‘Super Cena’!

Remarkably, Cena even worked the SummerSlam bout with torn triceps. He was right about Bryan, naturally. Triple H's heel turn on the pay-per-view facilitated The Authority's rise, and that eventually coincided with Dan becoming the man come WrestleMania XXX.

Would that have happened without JC's influence? Probably not.
