10 Fascinating Facts About WWE WrestleMania 36
3. The Firefly Funhouse Match Wasn't A Hit Backstage
Bray Wyatt really can't catch a break. He's created three of the best characters in the business, a vastly underrated worker, a real money maker in terms of merchandise and a two time world champion. And yet for whatever reason the company will never get fully behind him.
After The Fiend had his Universal Championship taken by Goldberg, he set his sights on the returning John Cena for a WrestleMania rematch. The two fought in a Firefly Funhouse match more akin to a mental breakdown for the man who can't be seen. One of two cinematic matches of the event, the Firefly Funhouse was absolute madness and fans seemed to love it. It's a shame that big voices backstage didn't feel the same.
Officials saw the match as a disappointment when compared to the excellent Boneyard Match the previous night, and Mr McMahon himself reportedly hated it for being not scary. Because of this, it's thought within the company that it's unlikely that Bray will perform another of these matches again.
There was some in the company however that gave huge praise to Wyatt for the match, crediting him for "turning chicken s*** into chicken salad". That quote came from The Undertaker, so high praise indeed.
