10 Fascinating Facts About WWE WrestleMania 36
2. It's The Only WrestleMania Where Both World Championship Bouts Were The Shortest Matches On The Card
Every WrestleMania has a good squash match, it's only to be expected. What's not to be expected is for those squashes to be for the biggest prizes in the company.
WrestleMania 36 is, thus far and hopefully thus ever, the only event in the history of the show where both the WWE Championship and Universal Championship matches ran less time than any other match. With Braun Strowman beating Goldberg in two minutes, and Drew McIntyre conquering Brock Lesnar in just over four and a half, the world title contests lasted a combined 6 minutes & 45 seconds. Excluding the pre-show, only one match ran shorter than that combined time: the Raw Tag Team Championship match.
Some 'Manias have had world title matches shorter than others on the card; Sheamus dethroning Daniel Bryan in 18 seconds, Hulk Hogan stealing the WWF Championship in 22 seconds being the chief culprits. But there were other world title matches on those cards to fill in more time. Here, it just seemed like they were eager to get the titles off part-timers and give them to more deserving talent who would be there week after week.
Hell, even the dark main event between McIntyre and The Big Show lasted nearly seven minutes.
