10 Fascinating Final Matches From Famous Wrestlers

9. The Ultimate Warrior

The controversial career of The Ultimate Warrior went out not in WWE or even WCW, but in a short lived, now defunct promotion from Italy known as Nu-Wrestling Evolution.

In June of 2008, Warrior was offered mega bucks to come out of retirement and battle Orlando Jordan for the NWE title. Apparently he was the only one capable of handling JBL's former Cabinet member.

This was nearly 10 years since Warrior's last match - the infamous rematch with Hulk Hogan at Halloween Havoc '98. Could he top that disaster, which was the wrestling equivalent of The Edmund Fitzgerald? Well, yes, he did. But that bar was so low that two men in their seventies who had never wrestled in their lives probably could have topped it.

In his swansong, Warrior’s full-on sprint to the ring was now more of a jog, and his long, flowing hair was short and gray. To give the two credit, they did succeed in delivering a better bout than the Havoc battle, but it was still far from a classic. In fact, it was terrible.

Even more unfortunately, Warrior’s post-match promo proved that along with his wrestling ability, his fortune telling skills weren’t up to snuff either when he told Jordan that he was going to be one of the greats in the business.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
