10 Fascinating WWE Backstage Facts About Brock Lesnar
1. He Didn't Want To End The Streak
Nobody wanted the Streak to end.
Even the biggest Brock Lesnar fans will struggle to admit that they wanted the Beast Incarnate to win against the Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX. Besides, he didn’t want to win either.
The whole situation was a mess. On the morning of April 6, 2014 the match was going to end with a 'Taker win. Six hours later and Vince McMahon had made it clear that Lesnar was going over instead. Mark Calaway has said that he didn't think Brock needed the win; they could've used the Streak to elevate a new star. The Beast Incarnate was already a special attraction from his time in UFC so he didn't need the marquee victory.
That makes sense, but nobody seems to talk about what Lesnar thought.
It turned out that he was in agreement with the Deadman. In a Q&A with WrestlingInc.com, both Shawn Michaels and Jim Ross confirmed that Brock thought he was the wrong man for the job. Only McMahon wanted it to happen, so that was how it went down.
It all worked out well for Brock in the end. He became the final boss in WWE; his squash of John Cena at SummerSlam 2014 for the WWE World Heavyweight Champion is still shocking to this day. Would it have happened without him ending the Streak? Probably.
