From Linda McMahon’s seat on Donald Trump’s cabinet to Jesse “The Body” Ventura’s spell as Governor of Minnesota, a number of wrestling personalities have entered the political realm over the years. Kane stands among them, and as an ardent Libertarian, he has been publicly involved in US politics since 2007, when he hosted a podcast called The Tiny Political Show.

Furthermore, Kane is friendly with prominent Libertarian politician Ron Paul, and supported his 2008 US Presidential Campaign. A keen scholar in Austrian economic theory, which values personal choice and limited government involvement above all else, Kane has delivered numerous political talks over the years, most notably for the New Hampshire Liberty Forum and Ludwig von Mises Institute.

Some Tea Party-affiliated groups campaigned for him to run in the 2014 Republican US Senate primary elections in Tennessee, and with his wrestling career finally winding down, could Kane be the next wrestler to enter public office? Kane has ruled-out the prospect in the past, but announced last year that he was “seriously considering” running as a Republic for the Knox County mayoral seat in 2018. It remains a distinct possibility, particularly as he approaches 50 years old.
