Nineteen years earlier, Patterson took part in The Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Best Match of 1981, the famed "Alley Fight" with Sgt. Slaughter at Madison Square Garden. If you ever want to see Patterson at his absolute best, find that match, and marvel as he valiantly beats the evil Sarge to a bloody pulp.

That match was Speed, and the Hardcore Evening Gown Match was Speed II: Cruise Control. The readers of Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer voted it the worst match of 2000, over all of the wretched tripe put out by WCW, who seemed to have cornered the market on bad wrestling that year.

Crash Holly, who ran in to pin Patterson and win the Hardcore Championship (thus ending the entire farce), would've been the biggest babyface in Boston that night, had The Rock and The Undertaker each no-showed the event.
