The Quebecers' hollow victory in the Tag Team championship match against Bret and Owen Hart was merely a set-up for Owen's cruel heel turn on his injured brother. The match in and of itself was pretty good, enhanced by the drama of Bret's serious knee injury.

For Jacques Rougeau, the match allowed him to claim an unusual feat. Jacques became the first man to wrestle five different matches at the Royal Rumble, without any of them being the Rumble match itself.

Every match Jacques took part in at the Rumble from 1989 through 1994 (sans 1993, when he was temporarily gone from WWE) was either a singles or tag team match. Jacques, like Razor Ramon, D-Von Dudley, Stevie Richards, and others, has never once participated in an official Royal Rumble elimination match.
