10 Fascinating WWE Royal Rumble 2002 Facts

6. The Hardy Boyz' Split Was Ret-Conned

In late-2001, the first of many future Hardy Boyz splits began to manifest as Matt and Jeff showed signs of dissension. The two faced off at Vengeance, with Lita caught in the middle as the guest referee. Within a week, the Hardyz (and Lita) were all taken off of television after separate beatings from The Undertaker, in part due to the fact that the split just wasn't taking.

At the Rumble, Matt and Jeff returned as concurrent entries, at a point when Undertaker just happened to be in the ring alone. Lita joined the now reunited brothers (who broadly hugged to show that they were one again) in attacking Undertaker, thus throwing the entire Hardyz split out the window. No mention was ever made again of Matt and Jeff having problems late in 2001.
