10 Fascinating WWE Royal Rumble 2004 Facts

3. Chris Benoit Only Eliminated "Hosses"

Benoit didn't have that coveted WWE "look" - he was considerably shorter than six-feet tall, and was reportedly once dismissed by Kevin Nash as a "vanilla midget". Lacking the height of even a Steve Austin or a Shawn Michaels was a tough red-X to wipe out.

If the idea is that someone like Benoit was too little to contend with the big men, then WWE sought to undo that stigma by having Benoit make six eliminations. The men he threw out weren't just anyone - they were among the most immense wrestlers in the match.

In order, Benoit eliminated sheer heavyweights like Bradshaw, Mark Henry, Rhyno, Matt Morgan, A-Train, and, in the end, Big Show. That seems like a pretty calculated way of getting Benoit to be viewed on the same plane as the company's larger wrestlers.
