Given the oftenness with which Big Show lost, his mystique as a fearsome giant had eroded way quickly during his WWE career. Still, it was important to have Benoit muscle a man twice his size over the top rope during the Rumble's conclusion. It was an emphatic way to demonstrate Benoit's deceiving power.

Big Show became the first man in 17 Royal Rumbles to finish second-place on two occasions. The first was in 2000, when The Rock eliminated him at the end of the match in dubious fashion.

Other future double-bridesmaids included Shawn Michaels (1994 and 2007, though his 1994 elimination technically made him third-place), Triple H (2008 and 2009), John Cena (2005 and 2010), and Roman Reigns (2014 and 2017). That's pretty good company if you don't mind being booed as a babyface.
