If you count the original closed-circuit airing of WrestleMania 1, there have been eleven WWE pay-per-views at Madison Square Garden, taking place between 1985 and 2011. The venue most closely-linked to WWE has boasted some major star wattage in that quarter century-plus.

Owed mostly to timing, Ric Flair had only wrestled on two of those pay-per-views, both of which took place in his fifties: WrestleMania 20 in 2004, and the 2008 Royal Rumble.

Since the WrestleMania 20 match was a three-on-two handicap bout, that makes the 2008 Royal Rumble the only time in which "The Nature Boy" wrestled in a singles PPV match at Madison Square Garden. The lucky opponent was MVP, in what turned out to be a sub-eight minute match in which Flair's career was at stake.
