Mick Foley won a brief "match" at an OMEGA indy show in February 2015, but for all intents and purposes, his career finale took place in the 2012 Royal Rumble match. Lasting six and a half minutes, Foley took part in a Socko/Cobra duel, and made three eliminations, before getting dumped out by Cody Rhodes.

Foley was supposed to have had further in-ring involvement that year, particularly with a yet-to-be-called up Dean Ambrose. Ambrose had taken an iconoclastic stance toward the reckless Foley, and that was to have begun a feud between the two madmen of different generations.

However, Foley was unable to gain medical clearance, and he opted to retire. The 2012 Rumble match is functionally the final bout of Foley's storied in-ring career.
