When Triple H entered at the number 30 spot, you could draw up the ending from there. Helmsley was going to win, and then lose the belt to a vigilant Reigns at WrestleMania, as a means of putting the chosen star of tomorrow over on a veteran heel of high renown.

With the victory, it made Triple H the second-oldest Rumble winner ever, at age 46. The oldest was his father-in-law, Vince McMahon, who took the 1999 Rumble at 53. Other 40-plus-year-olds that have won the match include Big John Studd (1989), Ric Flair (1992), The Undertaker (2007), and Batista (2014).

The match also marked Triple H's first World title win since 2009, and his first singles title reign of any kind past the age of 40. Just the idea of Helmsley going seven years without a World title is hard to fathom.
