For those of a certain vintage, one of the numerous reasons that the Royal Rumble so often jumped out as the greatest event on the wrestling calendar was the simple matter of how great the PPV's poster art would usually be.

Everybody who was around at that point in time will remember the stunning art used to promote the 1991 and 1992 Royal Rumbles, with the painted visage of multiple wrestlers all looking ready to get down to Rumble business.

That concept was utilised once more in 2001, with 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, the Rock, Triple H, Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho front-and-centre while certain other stars look on in menacing fashion. And then, after 2001, that poster design was put on hiatus by WWE. That was, of course, until 2019.

It was for the 2019 Royal Rumble that this beloved art style was brought back by WWE, with this time out it being Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and Rey Mysterio leading the charge - bringing to an end an 18-year wait to see this nostalgia-inducing style brought back to the fore.
