A good-but-overlooked match (from a good-but-overlooked show) saw MVP defeat Jeff Hardy in the SummerSlam 2008 opener. The match was your typical undercard "wrestling" match, with no chicanery whatsoever. Hardy made valiant comebacks, with he and MVP gamely exchanging big moves until MVP polished him off with his Drive-By kick.

According to the Wrestling Observer, Hardy had been hampered for at least a week before the match with a nasty elbow infection. He had the elbow drained once, and had been taking antibiotics, but still was not at one hundred percent come SummerSlam. You'd have hardly noticed anything was amiss, as Hardy delivered his usual high-impact performance. He even continued his work schedule uninhibited following the pay-per-view, working SmackDown and the subsequent house show dates.
