8. A Divas Championship Match Was Originally Set For SummerSlam

The pre-show for SummerSlam 2009 featured a 15-Diva interbrand battle royal, won by Beth Phoenix. Chavo Guerrero was magically the guest referee for "reasons", and he conveniently screwed over two babyface divas (Kelly Kelly and Eve Torres), so that Hornswoggle could conveniently appear and embarrass him. Because 2009, and because bad comedy.

While that match pretty much just existed as a throwaway appetizer, earlier plans for the card had an actual Divas Championship match in place. Champion Mickie James was set to defend the title against Gail Kim, although that was scrapped at least a week before the pay-per-view.

The two ended up facing off on Raw six nights before SummerSlam, with James retaining after a botch-laden three-minute match.
