6. Great Khali Was Originally Set For The WWE Team

Five legitimate full-time wrestlers were on the seven-man WWE team for the main event: John Cena, Edge, Chris Jericho, R-Truth, and John Morrison. Bret Hart, "working" in a limited capacity during his nostalgia run, took the sixth spot. The seventh went to monstrous Great Khali, though those plans changed when Khali was written out with a knee injury at the hands of The Nexus, in an angle that ran six nights before SummerSlam.

Apparently, the plan all along was for Khali to work the SummerSlam match, until WWE decided to make a change roughly two weeks before the pay-per-view. There was no real-life injury of Khali's to write an angle for. Khali even wrestled the night after SummerSlam on Raw, with no mention made of the injury. Clearly, the change had nothing to do with him.
