10 Fascinating WWE SummerSlam 2013 Facts
1. Triple H Had Not Been A Heel In Seven Years
When you think of Triple H, you tend to think of the conniving villain that outsmarted and outwitted his way to the penthouse of WWE. His turn as the pun-laden, grinning D-Generation X glowstick salesman is hardly the best representation of classic Hunter, and it's easier to imagine him as a heel.
The last time Triple H had played a heel was in the spring of 2006, jumbled up in the mess with the McMahons, Shawn Michaels, and the Spirit Squad before deciding that he missed thumbing his nose at corporate types alongside HBK. To put it in further perspective, Triple H hadn't been a heel since Daniel Bryan was halfway through his ROH World Championship reign. CM Punk hadn't even debuted on WWE's main roster yet.
The SummerSlam heel turn kicked off the interminable and tedious Authority angle that dragged on far beyond its expiration date. Alas, it brought Triple H back to the role he was born to play.
