10 Fascinating WWE SummerSlam 2016 Facts
7. John Cena Lost His Sixth Straight SummerSlam Match
What if I told you that John Cena, the wrestler who reportedly never lays down for anyone, and is coated with enough WWE-brand Teflon that he could survive any cataclysmic event that one could imagine, is 4-9 at SummerSlam? Would you believe me?
Cena has not reigned victorious at SummerSlam since he made Wade Barrett tap out at the end of the 2010 show. From then on, it was loss after loss, many of those losses in excellent matches with revered in-ring marvels.
In 2011, he dropped the WWE TItle unifier to CM Punk, before failing to win a triple threat involving Punk and Big Show the following year. The next two years saw him lose the WWE Championship, first to Daniel Bryan in 2013, before the mauling at Brock Lesnar's hands in 2014. A year later, he failed to win Seth Rollins' WWE Title, and in 2016, AJ Styles became The Face that Felled the Ace when he went over on Cena in another match-of-the-year candidate. Bonus note: three of those losses were clean (Bryan, Lesnar, Styles).
