10 Fascinating WWE Survivor Series 1987 Facts

3. Superstar Billy Graham Was Supposed To Be On Hogan's Team

The year 1987 saw the ill-fated comeback attempt of Superstar Billy Graham, ten years after his transcendent reign as WWE Champion. Graham was hindered by a real-life hip replacement (graphically shown through clips on WWE broadcasts), and was severely limited in his matches.

For the most part, Graham worked against charges of Slick, primarily "The Natural" Butch Reed. For Survivor Series, Graham was set to work on Hogan's team, while Reed was part of Andre's quintet.

Less than one month before the pay-per-view, Graham was written out after an assault at the hands of Reed and One Man Gang (that would air five days before the pay-per-view). Don Muraco, Graham's new protégé, took his spot in the main event match. 'Superstar' would stay on as a manager and announcer before departing WWE in early-1989.
