The big selling point for Survivor Series 1987 was an all-but-assured confrontation between Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant, eight months after their legendary battle in the main event of WrestleMania III. After the loss to Hogan, Andre seemingly went into seclusion, trying to cope with the missed opportunity to finally become the WWE Champion.

While it's true that Andre's in-ring performance at Survivor Series 1987 was his first in-ring action in many months, the story that he hadn't wrestled since WrestleMania III isn't entirely true. Just one month following his titanic struggle with Hogan, Andre teamed with Hercules to take on Hogan and Ken Patera in an untelevised match at the April 1987 Saturday Night's Main Event tapings, with Hogan pinning Hercules.

Nonetheless, Survivor Series stands as Andre's comeback, and the next step toward his infamous championship win over Hogan in the widely-viewed "Main Event" in February 1988.
