Was the egg the big selling point? Was it the new concept of a "Grand Finale" match of survival? Was it a boring Thanksgiving in particular, and everybody just wanted something to watch besides football? Whatever the case, Survivor Series 1990 set a new high pay-per-view mark for its namesake, and it wouldn't be surpassed for some time.

The 1990 Survivor Series did an estimated 400,000 buys, up 15,000 from the previous year. In subsequent years, the numbers would fall off, owed to wrestling's swift decline in popularity that began right around the time of Hulk Hogan's disastrous interview on Arsenio Hall's show.

It wouldn't be until the 1998 edition, well into the thick of the Attitude Era rebirth, that WWE would see 400,000+ buys for a Survivor Series again. And that show didn't even have a mystery egg.
