10 Fascinating WWE Survivor Series 1994 Facts
9. Monsoon Was Most Likely Filling In For A Departed Randy Savage
A little more than two weeks before Survivor Series, a shockwave was sent through the world of professional wrestling. Macho Man Randy Savage, after more than nine years of serving as one of WWE's most famous and beloved stars, flew the Stamford coop in favor of WCW.
Savage at the time was sparingly used, and primarily acted as main Monday Night Raw announcer alongside McMahon. He would still do pay-per-views (such as King of the Ring 1994) if main heel commentator Jerry Lawler were wrestling. Since Lawler was taking part in an elimination match at Survivor Series, it's most likely that Savage would've manned the booth with McMahon.
Savage detested being relegated to the sidelines. When his attempts to procure more ring time were met with McMahon resistance, he finally had enough, and briskly took his talents to Atlanta. As a footnote, Savage was actually scheduled to be the guest referee for the World Title match at the November 26 Madison Square Garden show (what ended up being the Diesel championship win), but his exit obviously changed that.
