On 20 June 2005, Batista suffered a rare pinfall loss in a tag team match on Monday Night Raw, succumbing to Triple H's Pedigree. Other than the occasional defeat to build drama for a pay-per-view, Batista was highly-protected as one of the undisputed faces of WWE. He and John Cena were pushed hard in 2005, and any losses they would endure were going to be scarce.

His pinfall loss at the hands of Big Show in the Survivor Series main event on 27 November marked the only time he'd been pinned since that innocuous tag team loss on Raw. That also includes house shows, in which it'd be foolish to have a World Champion sustain pinfall losses on, obviously.
