A Republican won the White House, a new Metallica album came out, and Survivor Series was going to have a 20-man elimination match. Was this 2016 or 1988?

During the interim 28 years, it was rare that WWE would have had enough steady tag teams to pull off the five teams-vs-five teams deal from the 1987 and 1988 Survivor Series. In 2016, they managed to do just that, pitting five from Raw against a quintet from SmackDown.

While not as lengthy as the two eighties' predecessors (both the 1987 and 1988 matches surpassed 37 minutes), the 2016 belated sequel did a decent enough job of encapsulating their old spirit. Even comparatively compressed, the match showcased some fine wrestling from gifted duos like American Alpha, the Usos, The Club, and Sheamus and Cesaro.
