Hard to believe. After performing in a run of try-out matches in the days following WrestleMania 9, it took six years for 123 Kid/Syxx/X-Pac to finally get a chance to shine on the grandest stage of them all. The road to his eventual match with Shane McMahon for the European title wasn't without its share of detours.

Waltman was due to perform in a ten-man tag at WrestleMania 10 in 1994, which was scrapped for time reasons. A year later, Waltman worked WrestleMania 11, but only as the cornerman of Razor Ramon. In 1996, Kid was buried deeper into the midcard and had zero to do with WrestleMania 12 whatsoever. He'd just missed WrestleMania 14 by a day upon his 1998 return to the company, thus it wouldn't be until 1999 that X-Pac finally received his match.
