The TLC Six of Edge, Christian, The Hardy Boyz, and The Dudley Boyz didn't require too much help in crafting a perfect car-wreck. By WrestleMania 17, however, all three tandems had their own respective sidekick. The Hardyz already had Matt's then-girlfriend Lita, while the other duos were enhanced by nomads from the dissolved ECW: Edge and Christian gained old friend Rhyno, while the Dudleyz were joined by diminutive sibling Spike. All three played a role in TLC's physical tumult.

It was Spike that took the brunt of the melee. When he and Rhyno were laid out on a pair of ringside tables, they were sitting ducks for one of Jeff Hardy's trademark ladder swantons. Edge would later claim that somehow, the impact of the flip-and-crash knocked out Spike's front teeth. Aside from Matt Hardy needing a head wound stapled shut, Edge would call Spike's damage "the worst casualty of the match."
