10 Fascinating WWE WrestleMania 25 Facts
6. Jimmy Snuka Became The Oldest WrestleMania Match Participant
At WrestleMania 2, The Fabulous Moolah retained the WWE Women's Championship over Velvet McIntyre in a match shorter than a brief sneezing fit. The hastened throwaway match is notable for the fact that Moolah was 62 years, 8 months old at the time, establishing a WrestleMania record for oldest performer that stood for 23 long years.
Breaking the record was "Superfly" Snuka, whose participation in the three-on-one legends handicap match with Jericho came about six weeks before his 66th birthday. Snuka didn't do much in the match, except give the least-enthusiastic tap out possible to Jericho's Walls, but his age does warrant a mention.
Vince McMahon himself would pass Moolah's mark a year after Snuka, losing to Bret Hart in the world's slowest street fight at age 64 years, 7 months. Also notable, Hall of Fame-bound Diamond Dallas Page looked naturally spry in last year's Andre the Giant Battle Royal, two days before his 60th birthday.
