The final clash between the two pre-and-post-Hulkamania/New Generation/Attitude Era/Ruthless Aggression/The Power is Back/WWE Goes PG-era icons (and Michaels' last clash with anybody) commanded as much majesty as possible. Naturally, because Michaels and Undertaker know what good presentation looks and sounds like, the two legends lobbied for another peer, Jim Ross, to be on call for their showdown.

Ross hadn't been seen since an October 2009 recurrence of Bell's palsy, but was apparently well enough to call the finish of WrestleMania 26. Sadly, he didn't. McMahon apparently put his foot down, noting that WrestleMania should be called by its designated announce team of Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, and Matt Striker.

When Michaels gave his farewell speech the following night on Raw, he thanked Ross immensely, and even made a point to emphasize that Ross was the greatest wrestling announcer of all time. When he mentioned Cole's name, while Michaels did thank Cole, there was no similar grand compliment.
