Two years previous, Undertaker and Shawn Michaels lobbied to Vince McMahon to get "Good Ol' JR" to call their Streak-Vs-Career match at WrestleMania 26, to no avail. McMahon reportedly decreed that WWE couldn't keep living in the past (perish the thought), and felt that the present announce team should always have the honors. Fair point, actually. McMahon, however, had himself a change of heart, perhaps after WrestleMania 26's commentary was grilled so mightily (especially by ESPN's Bill Simmons).

A goateed Jim Ross turned up at WrestleMania 28, making his entrance just prior to Undertaker's Hell in a Cell match with Triple H. Reportedly, The Undertaker went to McMahon once more, asking that Ross' voice be appropriately matched up with The Attitude Era throwback match. McMahon did comply, granting he, and anyone with ears, their fondest wish.
