10 Fascinating WWE WrestleMania 28 Facts
5. Jerry Lawler Made Fun Of Somebody's Heart Attack In A Throwaway Line
John Laurinaitis made his entrance as managerial captain for the 12-man tag, wearing an all-white suit with a bold red necktie. If you reverse the colors of the tie and shirt, Laurinaitis would've worn the same outfit as Brother Love. In the days of Hogan, Warrior, and Savage, Brother Love was a spot-on satire of corrupt televangelists that irritated WWE fans with his cacophonous voice and shady demeanor.
When Laurinaitis entered, Lawler made the connection, joking, ”That suit is so ugly, it would give Brother Love a heart attack.” For those in the know, Brother Love's portrayer, Bruce Prichard, had suffered a few minor heart attacks little more than a week before WrestleMania. At the time, Prichard was working behind the scenes for TNA, in a similar role to what Laurinaitis had in WWE.
Whether Lawler (who eerily suffered an on-air heart attack less than six months later) meant the joke good-naturedly toward his ex-co-worker is unclear. Some, like Scott Steiner, publicly said that the joke is close to what people in WWE truly thought of Prichard, who has his detractors.
