When CM Punk walked out WWE the day after the 2014 Royal Rumble, his frustrations were numerous. One seemed to be that he never got to truly main event WrestleMania, despite being WWE's most popular performer for a considerable stretch. If Dwayne Johnson is being honest, WrestleMania 29 was to have been Punk's best shot at doing so.

In the fall of 2016, in an interview on the set of his forthcoming Jumanji movie, The Rock revealed he was supposed to win the belt at Elimination Chamber (presumably after losing to Punk at the Royal Rumble, via shenanigans), and then WrestleMania would wind up a three way between he, Punk, and John Cena.

Not only would that have nullified the "Once in a Lifetime" tag to a degree, but it would've probably prevented the fans at MetLife Stadium from being quieter than expected during the main event, which they somewhat were for Cena/Rock II. Rock also adds that while he knows the main event wasn't well-regarded, the decision to do a straight re-match with Cena wasn't his call.
