10 Fascinating WWE WrestleMania 32 Facts
7. Zack Ryder Replaced Neville In The Intercontinental Ladder Match
Three weeks before WrestleMania, Neville was working an innocuous match with Chris Jericho on Raw when he went to slide between Jericho's legs. His left foot embedded in the canvas, resulting in a ghastly fracture. There was no way that Neville would be able to work WrestleMania, and indeed the dynamic aerialist would go MIA for nine months.
Originally, Neville was slated for the seven-man Intercontinental ladder match, which ended up being won by his replacement, Zack Ryder. The win for Ryder was a feel-good visual for an oft-neglected talent, though the thrill barely lasted 24 hours. Had Neville been in the match, it's not likely that he would've won, as the Ryder victory felt more like an, "Oh, what the hell" call.
It should be noted that The Wrestling Observer claims that Neville was replaced by both Ryder and Sin Cara, which would mean that the original plan was for a six-way with Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, Stardust, and Neville. Quite a solid line-up, either way.
