Pro wrestling history is full of 'what if?' discussions. Admittedly, 'what would Braun Strowman have been doing at WrestleMania 36 if coronavirus hadn't happened?' isn't particularly high on the list, but it remains a question nonetheless. Strowman almost certainly wasn't scheduled to face Goldberg for the Universal Championship, let alone pencilled in to come out of 'Mania with the blue belt in tow. That is exactly what happened, however, and The Monster Among Men made a small slice of history in the process.

In winning the Universal Championship at 'Mania, Strowman became the first man in history to win both a tag title and a world title at the Showcase of the Immortals. Many have tried and many have come close, but it is Braun who stands tall above all in the history books. Of course, he did so with a child as a mystery partner and as a last-minute replacement, but history cares not for how things come to pass, merely that they do.

There are a number of performers who could eventually join Strowman on this list. Heck, Edge and Naomi are in line to do so this very weekend. For now, it is Strowman who stands alone, albeit in the most underwhelming way possible. Dammit, why didn't he choose Okada?

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
