Edge made his first WrestleMania appearance in nine years at 'Mania 36, defeating Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match that may or may not have been the longest thing in the history of pro wrestling. Yes, the run time of the match was shorter than Bret and Shawn's Ironman match at WM12, but you can't tell me that this wasn't longer. It must have been, surely?

Edge and Randy Orton made history last year, albeit not in the length stakes. As difficult as it might be to believe, this was actually the very first Last Man Standing match in WrestleMania history. There have been dumpster matches, blindfold matches, body slam challenges, sumo bouts and battles of the billionaires, but this was the first time a match was contested under Last Man Standing rules at the Show of Shows.

Strangely enough, there have only been 48 Last Man Standing matches in WWE history. For a company that is obsessed with gimmick bouts as the 'Fed is, that seems strangely low. The first one? The Rock vs. Mankind at St. Valentines Day Massacre back in 1999.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
