5. Bret Hart And Roddy Piper Planned Their Match At A Diner In New Brunswick
Piper and Hart's match for the Intercontinental belt remains a classic all these years later. The story of two babyfaces who occasionally resort to competitive ugliness to try and outdo each other (particularly the irascible Piper) resonated with fans, and it marks Hart's biggest victory to that point. It was one of the rare times that Piper laid down clean for somebody.
Both men have reported sitting down at an out-of-the-way diner in Moncton, New Brunswick in late-March 1992, where they went over the plan for the contest. Hart recalls that Piper spoke at length about the complexity and composition that he felt the match needed, and "The Hitman" was relieved that he had the exact same ideas that Piper did. The two old pros were on the same page before even sharing a thought.
