10. WWE St. Valentine's Day Massacre (Feb 14, 1999)
Best Matches: Mankind vs. The Rock (Last Man Standing), Steve Austin vs. Vince McMahon Austin's rivalry with McMahon was so hot that they had to battle it out in a cage match. This was the first real match that Vince was advertised in (not counting the Royal Rumble) and it was the main event. It was a one sided ass kicking for Austin for the most part, but it turned into an enjoyable bloody brawl with Vince impressing us by taking a big bump off the side of the cage through a table. It also marked the debut of Big Show, who they signed from WCW. He entered by coming up from under the ring, tossing Austin into the cage and Austin fell out for the win to send him on to WrestleMania. The crowd loved this match. That's what was so obvious from watching it. It's just a lot of fun. There were several very good Mankind vs. The Rock matches. This one was Last Man Standing rules. They used all kinds of weapons and like usual there were some sick Mankind bumps. Rock was as entertaining as ever as he debuted the "Smackdown hotel" song. They were each able to hit some of their patented moves like when Mankind slowed down Rock with the Mandible Claw and Rock hit a Rock Bottom for near wins. Then they did a double chairshot spot to set up the draw finish, which the fans hated. The finish was hated because there was no clear winner, but it fit their story. The midcard was pretty average. There was a fun tag match where heels Kane and Chyna beat Triple H and X-Pac thanks to a Kane Chokeslam leading to Chyna pinning Hunter. That was a huge deal at the time because this was when she was just starting to wrestle. Hunter turned heel about a month later to join her. This is one of those shows where it's not necessarily about the match quality that made it good, but it was just a lot of fun to watch. That's what a lot of WWE 1999 PPVs were.
