10 Finishing Moves Too Awesome For WWE
1. Minoru Suzuki - Saka Otoshi
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJutvzIhXi4Wikipedia tells me that the English translation of Minoru Suzuki's nickname is 'The Man With The Worst Personality In The World'. Beautiful.
Minoru Suzuki is a bad, bad man. Many pro wrestlers play the role of the cold-hearted quietly insane types, but Suzuki is the one who truly gives the impression that not only will he kill you if it came to it, but that he would also get away with it because nobody would want to bring him up on it. Think of Haku, but in character form (and possibly real life, I don't know).
As such, his finishing move isn't some flashy technical move. It is actually just a sleeper hold, a move that in any other hands is groan-inducing in 2015 but when Suzuki clasps it on is a little bit terrifying. Every now and then however, Suzuki will bust out the Saka Otoshi, which unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a standalone video of on YouTube (jump to 1:58 in the video embedded above).
From the sleeper position, Suzuki will transition his hips so that the back of the opponent begins to bend over his own. Then, using pretty much only his strength and the victim's head and neck, Suzuki will throw them backwards over his own body, holding the sleeper the entire time before clasping it on on the ground.
There is something about the move that just looks vile. Professional wrestling is full of flash, of shock and awe, but sometimes there is a move that you can imagine someone using in an actual fight, if they had a lot of sense and no heart. Minoru Suzuki might not have sense, but he sure as heck doesn't have a heart either.
The Saka Otoshi is the most badass move in professional wrestling.
