10 Finishing Moves Too Awesome For WWE

5. Kazuchika Okada - Rainmaker

It is incredible that this move feels fresh and new, not to mention so devastating, considering its simplicity. Kazuchika Okada is the current IWGP Heavyweight Champion, the number one title in New Japan Pro Wrestling (and arguably in all of Japan). His run from a fairly forgettable stint in TNA to where he is today has been remarkable, and there aren't many more consistent pro wrestlers in the business today.

His finisher is the Rainmaker, which also happens to be his nickname. What is it? Well, from a wrist-lock position, Okada transitions into a short-arm lariat. That's it. It shouldn't be what it is, but the move has been so well protected (not to mention so well sold) that it is unthinkable for anyone to kick out of it in Japan.

The key word there might be 'lariat' too, as it is performed with such force that the opponent often is taken for a spin. It is a whirlwind of a move based in simplicity.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
